On Sunday December 4th children ages 3-12 raced against the iconic Puffing Billy in The Rotary Club of Emerald & District’s annual event ‘Kids Fun Run with Puffing Billy’ in Gembrook.
Participants raced against the steam train in aged-based groups throughout the morning to raise funds for the Monash Children’s Cancer Centre.
Attendees enjoyed rides on Puffing Billy, market stalls and a sausage sizzle, with participants receiving a showbag and winners in each event being presented with a medal by event MC, Patrick Tessier OAM, who kindly hosted the event for the 17th time over the weekend.
The Rotary Club of Emerald & District are thrilled to report that the event will raise an expected $45,000 for the Monash Children’s Cancer Centre, which exceeds the target for the event.
The Monash Children’s Cancer Centre cares for approximately 30% of all paedeatric cancer patients in Victoria, and it’s fundraising efforts like these that allow the team to continue providing world class care for so many children and their families.
Thank you again to Rotary Club of Emerald & District, generous event sponsors and of course, our young runners and their families for making the event such a success.
See you next year!
