The Monash Children’s Hospital Gala held on Saturday 4 May at Palladium at Crown was a resounding success, with supporters raising an impressive $1.1 million for the Genomics Program.
Over 1100 guests filled the Palladium ballroom and were welcomed by Monash Health Chief Executive Eugine Yafele, before being treated to an array of spectacular entertainment.
The line-up included Hugh Sheridan and his California Crooners Club, Cassie McIvor and Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance with Australian favourite Tim Campbell overseeing an incredibly impressive dancefloor to round out the night.
Hosted by our longtime friends from Channel 9, Stephanie Anderson and Dougal Beatty attendees were inspired with stories of resilience and hope from our patient families who shared their experience with a rare disease, and the impact such a diagnosis has on their family.
We were joined by Professor Matthew Hunter and Dr Ari Horton who are working tirelessly on the Monash Children’s Hospital Genomics Program. Matthew and Ari shared with guests the importance of genomics and precision medicine, and how support from the community is vital in ensuring more children have access to such diagnostics and treatment.
Highlights beyond the world-class entertainment included our live auction and pledge segments, which saw guests demonstrate enormous generosity raising $500,000 toward our grand total in less than 20 minutes!
Guests were also privy to a very special moment, when one of our attendees, Fraser, not only bid on and won the stunning diamond ring we had up for auction but proposed to his partner Jess in front of more than 1000 people! Thankfully, Jess said yes, and we extend our congratulations to the beautiful couple.
On behalf of our patients, doctors, nurses and all those working tirelessly to improve outcomes for these children, the Monash Health Foundation extends their heartfelt thanks to all who ensured the success of the 2024 Gala.
