Bailey’s Day raises more than $338,000

The 2022 fundraising golf day and lunch named in honour of Bailey Tessier has raised close to $340,000.

Initiated and run by Bailey’s dad Patrick Tessier OAM, the longstanding event focuses on support for the Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) Cancer Centre.

Ron Fairchild, Director of the Monash Health Foundation said that Patrick had made a significant difference to patient care in the MCH Cancer Centre.

“Sadly, Patrick lost his son Bailey in 2004 aged just two and a half to a brain tumour. Patrick has since run Bailey’s Day as an annual event,” Ron said.

“Patrick is a force of nature and his efforts have raised in excess of $3.8 million to date. These funds have been used to train 17 additional paediatric clinical oncologists as well as supporting research into brain tumour biology to enhance patient care,” he said.

“The alumni group of Bailey’s Day Fellows are now in leadership positions around the world caring for children with cancer.

“It was great to be at the ‘in-real-life’ event at Woodlands Gold Club. The room was full of committed supporters of the Children’s Cancer Centre. The day and the history of the day is a wonderful remembrance of Bailey’s life.”
