‘Celebration at Home’ hits a high note

The Dandelion Wishes Celebration at Home was held last Saturday night (21 November) and raised more than $329,000 towards equipment for the new Children’s Emergency Department.

With the June 2020 Dandelion Wishes Gala unable to be held due to COVID-19, the Gala team decided to take the evening of fun, performances, patient stories and fundraising and live-stream it into people’s homes.

The Gala has been held annually since 2016, with four events raising more than $2 million. Volunteers Lincoln and Veronique Wulff of the Dandelion Wishes Foundation founded the Gala and are the driving force behind its success.

Ron Fairchild, Director of the Monash Health Foundation said that the Celebration at Home evening kicked off on a high note.

“We were delighted that Richard Lim, long-time supporter of Monash Health and Monash Children’s Hospital, set a challenge gift matching all donations up to the $125,000 mark,” said Ron.

The evening was hosted by 9News and the MC was Alicia Loxley from the 9News team.  The event’s headline act was The Black Sorrows and other performers included Bella Paige and Tim Campbell.

“We would particularly like to thank our event major sponsors: La Roche Posay, Lombard, Vue Properties, Medical.com.au, The Alfred Café, Maxxia, our corporate sponsor Arjo and our media partner 9News,” Ron said.

“Thanks also to all those organisations donating goods and services for the silent auction.

“Most of all, thank you to the more than 600 people who logged in to the event and made it such a wonderful evening.”
