Summer 2021-22 issue of Momentum now online

The Summer 2021-22 issue of Momentum – the Monash Health Foundation’s newsletter for and about our donors – is now available to read online.

In this edition, you will read stories about the impact of donations across the health service.

We report back on the outcomes of 2020’s urgent COVID-19 appeal, which broke Foundation records for a community appeal. The appeal funded eight teams of researchers all looking at different aspects of COVID-19. The researchers have now completed their studies and the results are encouraging.

In our cover story on page 3, we profile major supporters of Monash Children’s Cancer Centre – the My Room Charitable Foundation. Over recent years My Room has supported several key positions at the Monash Children’s Cancer Centre, including a specialist social worker, a dietitian, physiotherapists and a clinical research fellowship.

Amazing individuals and communities are making a difference at Monash Health and Effie Atkins and Cr Richard Lim OAM are celebrated in this edition. Effie Atkins is raising funds to support adult patients entering Monash Health cancer clinical trials through her Dr Hope initiative (see page 7). You can also learn about the extraordinary generosity of the Cambodian community, inspired by long-time supporter Richard Lim. For the first time for Momentum, we have included a message of thanks specially translated into Khmer for this community.

We hope you enjoy reading Momentum issue 3, Summer 2021-22.
