From hot wheels cars to kangaroo tails, generous donors gave thousands of gifts for children spending Christmas in hospital.

“We were blown away by the generosity this Christmas, especially after the second tough COVID year which affected many companies and families. It was just phenomenal,” said Beth Allan, the Monash Health Foundation’s Manager of Corporate and Community Partnerships.
The gifts flooded into the Monash Health Foundation’s packing rooms, with the team managing a major logistical exercise to select, wrap and distribute boxes of presents to all the wards at Monash Children’s Hospital sites, along with some special extras.
“This Christmas we added additional presents for each ward to give the nursing team some choice and to cover surprises such as siblings and newborns,” Beth said.
“We provided boxes of presents for site management and the emergency departments to give out,” she said.
“This Christmas we were really pleased to be able to support other special areas of Monash Health such as McCulloch House. In a new initiative, any child visiting a family member in palliative care this Christmas received a gift.”
