Vase donation to support ‘Pump the Pedals’ and prostate cancer care

Leading Australian ceramic artist Ted Secombe has kindly donated a beautiful piece from his ‘Round Form Kimono’ series to help fundraising efforts for prostate cancer care at Monash Health.

The stunning vase is now for sale. Proceeds from the sale of the 28 cm by 32 cm piece will go towards the 2021 ‘Pump the Pedals for Prostate Cancer’ fundraiser run by the Monash Health Urology team. The vase is valued at $2000.

The ‘Pump the Pedals’ event involves the Urology team riding a virtual 1000km bike ride using Zwift technology. The event is taking place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 December 2021.

The inaugural event in 2020 raised more than $155,000 and enabled the purchase of a new trans-rectal ultrasound machine to help the team provide more efficient outpatient care for men with prostate cancer.

This year funds raised will be used to expand the Monash Health prostate cancer biopsy service to decrease waiting times for men while they wait to learn of their diagnosis.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Australian men and second leading cause of cancer-related death.
