Winter Walk for Monash Children’s Hospital raises more than $135,000

In August 2021 the virtual Winter Walk for Monash Children’s Hospital saw 1000 participants hit their local pavements to raise $135,000.

For ten days in late August, teams and individuals walked 10,000 steps per day and generated donations for vital equipment.

Ron Fairchild, Director of the Monash Health Foundation explained that this support will help purchase important equipment for treatment.

“Congratulations to all those friends of Monash Children’s Hospital and Monash Health employees who hopped, skipped and stepped their way to 100,000 steps and shared the challenge with their networks to attract donations,” Ron said.

“I’m very pleased to report that your efforts have enabled us to purchase two specialised chairs that help our young patients. The Sara Combilizer helps kids who can’t walk, letting them get out of bed and receive physiotherapy care to help them gain muscle strength, movement and hopefully the ability to walk again. We’re also looking in to the purchase of a ‘float chair’,” he said.

The Winter Walk donation pages have now been closed off, but you can still support Monash Children’s Hospital by donating here: https://monashhealthfoundation.org/form/
