We are pleased to welcome John De Rango who has recently joined the Monash Health Foundation as the newly appointed Director.
John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role with more than 25 years of senior management experience in both corporate and not-for-profit environments.
His early career commenced in membership management with a number of AFL Clubs, before joining Save the Children Australia (2003 – 2008) where he led the marketing and fundraising team. John was instrumental in helping position Save the Children Australia as one of the leading international development organisations in the country; and in turn, assisted the International Save the Children Alliance in setting-up or supporting philanthropic and development programs in New Zealand, China, Japan, Germany, and Italy.
He then co-founded Redstone Marketing (2008 – 2014), a specialist consultancy working with major NGOs and Charities including Greenpeace International, Cancer Council Victoria, Save the Children International, Amnesty International Australia, McGrath Foundation, Peter Mac Cancer Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, and Plan International Australia.
After Redstone Marketing, John was the Director of The Royal Melbourne Hospital Foundation (2014 – 2016), where he drove the development of key strategies, including its flagship campaign ‘The RMH Home Lottery’.
Prior to the Monash Health Foundation, John was the Executive Director Fundraising & Marketing at Stroke Foundation (2016 – 2025), where he led the growth in annual fundraising income from $9.5M (2016) to $15.7M (2024) – greatly impacting the support provided towards Australians affected by stroke.
John is former Board Member (2021 – 2025) of the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA), and former Chair of the PFRA (2021 to 2024). He is also a Professional Member of the Fundraising Institute Australia and holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from RMIT University.
